3/2 What is something that makes you feel sad? Today we went over vocabulary for Chapters 9-12. We will be exploring concepts in Unit 3 this week. Unit Test is on MONDAY 3/8/10 Unit 4 vocabulary is due Tuesday, 3/9/10.

2/24/10 Journal 13: What is the meaning of "He who laughs last, laughs best"? We went over chapters 5 and 6 today with physical activities.
2/23/10 Journal 12: What is your most indispensible possession and why? In class we went over the rest of the vocabulary for unit two. Tests on Chapters 5-8 this week. Unit two test on Monday, March 1.
2/22/10 Journal 11: What is something you are pessimistic about? Students went to the media center to take the UNIT ONE test. We returned to the classroom and I picked up vocabulary for Unit 2 and we went over chapter 5 vocabulary.
2/19/10 Journal 10: What is something you are optimistic about?
2/18/10 Journal 9: What is the best way to treat meddlesome people? Students went to the media center today to take tests 3 & 4. Each Chapter test is able to be taken up to three times. Unit test is being given on Monday during class. Students have only one attempt on a unit test. Assignment: Students should READ Unit two and do all vocabulary for CH 5-8. This will be a one shot vocabulary list for the whole unit.
2/17/10 Journal 8: What is your idea of a dull evening? Chapter 3 & 4 tests are now available. We worked on Woosh adding in the "boop". Worked on the repeating exercise in pairs, small groups then moved into "What Are You Doing" exercise. Please remember the following about chapter tests. These may be taken up to three times. They must be fully completed once started and once you've chosen an answer you can't go back. Unit Tests will only be given ONE time and you will have the ability to go back and change an answer.
2/16/10 Journal 7: What is your favorite time of day? Pantomime packing: We finished those who did not perform Monday. Picked up vocabulary for Chapter 4 and reviewed Improvisation. Do's and Don'ts as well as important concepts. Chapter 3 & 4 tests this week . . . Unit 1 test Monday.
2/15/10 Journal 6: What is the worst thing a parent can do to a child? Pantomime Packing. Those who did not perform today will perform tomorrow. Skills should be better after seeing and evaluating today. Please PRACTICE with real items at home tonight so you know you will improve. READ chapter 4 and do vocabulary to be turned in Tuesday.
2/12/10 Journal 5: What is your favorite room in your house and why? We explored concentration skills with the mirror exercise. . . created environments through pantomime. Weekend assignment: Create a pantomime of packing for a weekend trip. The trip is for 3 days so you'll need a suitcase or bag of some sort, appropriate clothes for the trip as well as toiletries. As you work on this, pay VERY CLOSE attention to the details of how you manipulate your objects.
2/11/10 Journal 4: What is it like to be a good neighbor? From a teenagers perspective and from an adults perspective.
We took chapter 2 test in media center. We also worked on our observation activity sheet. Read CH 3 and do BOLD vocabulary to be turned in FRIDAY.
2/10/10 Journal 3: What is something you do well?
Took up Chapter 2 vocabulary. Went over the vocab and did some basic stretching, Neck rolls, etc . . . Worked with partners on weight sharing/trust exercise. Talked about the importance of trust from several perspectives. Trust yourself first and find your range . . . trust your acting partners and find their range . . . work on building trust with each other. Did an observation exercise as well. Took an inventory of what your partner was wearing. Turned our backs and changed something, then turned back around to identify what was changed. Quiz on Chapter 2 tomorrow.
2/9/10 Journal 2: Write about a time you felt excluded.
We went to the media center, took an online "warm up" test through BLACKBOARD. Assignment is to read chapter 2 and define BOLD vocabulary words in the chapter to be turned in on Wednesday.
2/8/10 Students handed in Ch. 1 vocabulary.
Students took a test on vocabulary from chapter 1.
We did some vocal warm ups to loosen up out voices and then moved to the stage to do some physical warm ups.
Reviewed concepts introduced last week then worked on the game "whoosh" on stage.
PLEASE BRING BOOKS, PAPER AND PEN/PENCILS TO CLASS EVERY DAY.
2/5/10 Students should READ chapter 1 and write down and DEFINE all BOLD words in a vocabulary list.
Concepts we went over this week include:
Objectives-What your character wants
Tactics-How your character gets what they want
Basic body positions on stage - full front, 1/4 turn. profile. 3/4 turn, full back
Types of theatre spaces-
Proscenium - audience on one side
Thrust - audience on three sides
Arena - audience on all sides
